Ponoi River The Ponoi River on Russia's Kola Peninsula is a true find. It is unique among other Kola rivers you may have heard about. This river has nearly fifty miles of very productive water in a pristine wilderness setting that no one else from the outside world is permitted to fish. The Ponoi River is fly fishing and catch and release only. It's a big, gentle gradient river with greatly varying character, providing the opportunity to fish as you like -- wading, bank casting, or boat fishing. The Ponoi has established itself as one of the best rivers in the world for dry fly fishing for salmon -- some weeks about half the salmon are caught on dry flies. A wonderful, American owned, managed and equipped tent camp is your base of operations. The staff and guides are terrific and cater to your every need under capable management.
