ALASKA’S BOARDWALK LODGE is located in the lush rainforest of Prince of Wales Island, just 35 minutes by floatplane from Ketchikan in Southeast Alaska. This world-class fishing lodge is proud to demonstrate its exceptional fishing, facilities and commitment to excellence to many repeat clients each year, proving that Boardwalk is one of the best fishing lodges in Alaska.
Boardwalk Lodge offers the best of both worlds: exceptional saltwater fishing and world-class freshwater fly fishing. Expert and seasoned guides lead daily freshwater excursions with your choice of 23 lakes, rivers and streams nearby. While U.S. Coast Guard certified skippers pilot 28-foot especially outfitted fishing boats for saltwater adventures — targeting halibut, king salmon, silver salmon and several other species.
Coho Salmon, also known as Silvers, are among the hardest fighting Salmon in Alaska. Coho Salmon average between 12-15 pounds, with some topping out over 20. Intense fishing for Silvers ranges from late July through September.
While Pinks are the smallest of Salmon, they are pervasive in area waters — so much so that guests often claim they can walk across them. Alaska Pink Salmon average 3-5 pounds and are a thrill to catch on appropriately sized fly gear.
Dog Salmon, or Chums, are famous for their sheer tenacity and strength. Excellent Chum Salmon fishing is common from mid-July through August. Chums average 15 pounds with an occasional brute topping 25.
Sockeyes, also called Red Salmon, can be rather tricky to catch in local waterways. Sockeyes are known for their tremendous fight.
Native Steelhead: Early season action begins with one of Alaska’s most coveted game fish — wild Pacific Steelhead. These phenomenal fighters are native to the island and return every year. The average sizes of these remarkable trophies are in the 29-37 inch range! Steelhead are fierce fighters that can quickly double your rod and take you deep into your backing. The Boardwalk accommodates Steelhead fishermen from May 1 through May 31. Space is limited during the much sought after Steelhead runs so be sure to book your trip early to ensure best reservations.
Cutthroat Trout & Dolly Varden: Year-round excitement abounds with the Cutthroat and Dollies in nearby waters. Local lakes, rivers and streams are teaming with Trout and Char. These fish are generally from 10-21 inches, and there’s certainly no shortage of action… Trout and Char are so plentiful, you can often catch and release until your arms shake!
One of the beauties of Boardwalk’s spectacular oceanfront location is versatility… If you ever tire of fly fishing you can climb aboard one of the lodge’s 28-foot heated cabin cruisers. Saltwater fishing trips launch from the dock each day with our Coast Guard licensed captains.

Alaska’s Boardwalk Lodge is home to trophy-class saltwater fishing that is found throughout the nearby, deep fjords and emerald-green waters of Southeast Alaska’s Inside Passage.
Due to the oceanfront location of Boardwalk Lodge on the Inside Passage, you will enjoy the comforts of fishing in relatively calm waters. This area is comprised of hundreds of islands, protected passages, bays and inlets. These waters teem with fish and other spectacular aquatic life. Rarely will you be fishing more than 200 yards from land.
Boats used are 28-foot ocean cruisers, specially designed for your comfort and safety. Each is equipped with a heated cabin, flushing private toilet and all required tackle to make your day on the water forever memorable.
For those of you who enjoy bringing some of your freshly caught salmon or halibut home to share, Boardwalk’s staff cleans, fillets or steaks, vacuum packs, freezes and boxes your saltwater fish for your convenient transport home. Smoking your salmon is available at an additional cost.
