Nahanni National Park and the Muskwa-Kechika Protected Wilderness Area are both easily accessible from Northern Rockies Lodge. The lodge is situated in the northernmost reaches of Canada's Rocky Mountains amidst spectacular scenery. Fishing, wildlife viewing, hiking and canoeing are only some of the outdoor adventure packages offered since 1981.
One of the most beautiful views in the world; the jade-green to turquoise expanse of Muncho Lake and the surrounding mountains of the Muskwa-Kechika area to the west and south fill your view as you recline on the front porch of your lakeshore chalet.
Awesome Fishing!
The diversity of fishing opportunities in the lakes and streams in Northern BC, as well as within specific waters, will astound even the most experienced angler.
Experience the world class freshwater fishing available in the unspoiled wilderness of the Northern Rocky Mountains. Choose from over 70 Fly-in lakes and streams. Their fishing area covers over 25,000 square miles of some of the most scenic and untouched wilderness in northern Canada
If you are considering driving the historic Alaska Highway, it is highly recommended that you arrange a stop along the way in the Muncho Lake/Toad River/Liard River Hotsprings region, as Northern Rockies Lodge is 'the' ideal overnight stop for travelers...you will find them at Mile 462.

For the fly fishermen we highly recommend July, August or September. By the end of June the mountain streams are running clear. Rainbow Trout, Arctic Grayling, Dolly Varden, Bull Trout and Rocky Mountain Whitefish are a joy to catch on dry flies or nymphs.
Your bush pilot and fishing guide flies you in one of our floatplanes to a different fishing spot each day. After a hearty breakfast at Northern Rockies Lodge you will take-off in front of your chalet and soar above breathtaking mountain scenery to unforgettable fishing adventures.
When to visit:
Your bush pilot flies you in one of our floatplanes to a different fishing spot each day. After breakfast you leave from your chalet and soar across breathtaking high mountain scenery to unforgettable fishing adventures. At lunch time your bush pilot cooks fresh caught fish over an open fire - an experience by itself! Enjoy more great fishing until late afternoon. Your return flight brings you back to Muncho Lake for a three course meal.
All package tours from Vancouver include accommodation in one of the Muncho Lake Lakeshore Chalets or in the Main Lodge.
Each chalet carries the name of a fish that the anglers will come to know... Arctic Grayling, Lake Trout, Dolly Varden and Rainbow Trout. Like the main lodge, guest rooms and log cabins, each of the chalets is self-contained with thermostatically controlled heat, shower and private washroom.
Enjoy wildlife viewing in one of the most spectacular wilderness areas on the continent, in the heart of Canada’s Northern Rockies. Be one with nature as you view the diversity of wildlife and scenery in the remote Muskwa Kechika – the “Serengeti of the North”. Relax at this magnificent lakeside mountain retreat. Enjoy a once in a lifetime experience, accessing remote mountain wilderness by floatplane, boat or on foot. Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints!
Each day’s guided wildlife viewing expedition starts with a full hot breakfast at the Lodge. Lunch is usually either a picnic in a spectacular mountain setting, or a shore lunch alongside a remote mountain lake or river. Returning to the lodge in the late afternoon there is usually time to relax before enjoying a delicious 3-course dinner prepared by the Lodge’s Chef.
You can observe many species of wildlife. The list of wildlife species found in their natural habitats is impressive and includes black bears, moose, caribou, Stone’s sheep, mountain goats, elk, beavers, bald eagles, trumpeter swans, ptarmigan, golden eagles, and loons, among many others. There is even an opportunity to follow the route of the original Alaska Highway (Al-Can Highway), the legendary 1,500-mile engineering marvel carved out of the remote northern wilderness in 1942.
Daily wildlife-viewing activities in Northern British Columbia are guided. Travel is by comfortable air-conditioned van, floatplane, and boat or on foot. Day trips, length and difficulty of hikes, and other activities will be tailored to the interests and hiking experience of package participants.
