Originally built as a fishing lodge in 1946, Morrison's Rogue River Lodge offers some of the finest Steelhead fishing in the Pacific Northwest. Morrison's is Southern Oregon's premier rafting & fishing resort located on the scenic Rogue River.
The Rogue River is an amazing sport fishery destination for salmon and steelhead, having over 215 miles of fishable water. The removal of dams in the last several years has once again established the Rogue as a free flowing river from the hatchery at Lost Creek Lake to the Pacific Ocean.

Steelhead
In case you aren't familiar with these fish, Steelhead are an ocean going rainbow trout and truly are a fabulous sport fish. They fight hard and can readily be caught on flies. They are still the most popular species fished for at Morrison’s.
Fly Fishing Techniques for Steelhead:
Nymphing – Primarily two large flies no extra weight, very effective both from the boat and wading. All boats are set up with casting braces. Moderate casting techniques are required.
Swing Flies – Using intermediate sink tip lines. Rod choices include either single hand or two handed styles with traditional steelhead patterns. For many this is the purist way to target steelhead. Again, moderate casting skills are demanded.
Pulling Flies – Also known as the “Rogue River Twitch”, this technique requires minimal to no casting. Perfect for the beginner or experience angler looking for a more relaxing pursuit of steelhead.
Trout
The middle area of the Rogue does not have a resident trout population, so anglers intercept these fish along the migration runs. You can expect to catch sea run Cutthroat Trout during the fall while fishing Steelhead. Another option for Trout is on the upper Rogue, just below Lost Creek Dam. This is a stocked trout area known as “The Holy Water” offering a great Salmon Fly hatch in June. It’s about a 1 ½ hour drive from Morrison's, with great fly-fishing opportunities. The upper river in the Shady Cove area (also about 1 ½ hour drive) offers trout in the spring and fall.
