
Rainbow River Lodge is Strategically located in the wilderness of lake Iliamna, located in the heart of Alaska’s world-renowned wild rainbow trout and salmon fisheries. The premier fly fishing rivers of Bristol Bay, Lake Iliamna and the Katmai Wilderness watershed are just minutes away from the lodge front door in our two custom equipped DeHavilland Beavers. The Copper River, one of Alaska’s finest “Fly-fishing only” rivers is our home river for anglers visiting Rainbow River Lodge. To insure personalized service, for which Rainbow River Lodge is well known for, the lodge limits the number of guests to 10 per week. With a staff of 12, you are insured that your personal needs will be met. Rainbow River Lodge fishing guides are experts in the angling techniques that insure success for all guests. Their knowledge of local waters along with their ability to share their expertise, make even the most amateur fishermen feel right at home. Accommodations at Rainbow River Lodge combine wilderness adventure surrounded by luxury. Each cabin is wrapped in cedar inside and out. A slate entry, maple hardwood floors and hand crafted aspen log furniture is just the beginning of what makes Rainbow River Lodge cabins the finest in Southwest Alaska. The spacious main lodge is a Lyndal Log Lodge with a 36-foot cathedral ceiling. It is common to view feeding brown bears and soaring eagles while enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres in the lounge or while dining. Each day the professional kitchen staff produces a world-famous fare that is presented in ways not imaginable in the wilderness of Alaska.

Season: June - September
Rainbow Trout: the most productive rainbow fishing is in the months of June, August, and September, with some spectacular opportunities for dry fly fishing in July.
Arctic Grayling: will attack a fly all season long.
Arctic Char: available all season long.
Chinook (King) Salmon: they enter the rivers in early June with fishing peaking from mid June to the middle of July.
Sockeye (Red) Salmon: Arrive mid to late June and are available for sportfishing well into July. By the end of July, these reds are in their natal streams and preparing to spawn. The rainbow and Char will be waiting for their arrival and the commencement of the spawning activities.
Chum (Dog) Salmon: arrive in July and early August.
Pink (Humpy) Salmon: mid- July and August.
Silver (Coho) Salmon: August and September
Northern Pike: available all season, as close as your cabin door
Lake Trout: a welcomed surprise with the best fishing just after ice-out.
Day 1: The Rainbow River Lodge charter flight will depart Anchorage in the late afternoon. Weather permitting, you will be treated to one of the most visually dramatic flights anywhere in the world as you fly through the heart of Lake Clark Pass
You will be met by the lodge staff at the Iliamna airport upon your arrival and transported to the lodge to check in. Explore the lodge, have dinner, and prepare for the next day’s fishing.
Day 2-5: Five fully guided fly-out fishing days are provided including float plane flights (weather permitting), expert instruction, boat, lunch, and other guide related equipment. Fly Fishing on Alaska’s wilderness rivers is an experience coveted by all avid fly fishers.
You will return to the lodge each night after fishing to enjoy a hearty meal, prepare for the next day’s fishing, share fish stories, and retire for the evening.
Get up and have an early breakfast.
Day 6: Your final full day of fishing. You will either fly once again to one of the areas best fishing spots, where you will walk or float for a full day’s fishing, or possibly fish the world famous Copper River, flowing right outside your doorstep. If you are to fish the Copper, the guide will transport you up the river via jet boat providing a full day of guided fishing. Return to the lodge to check out. The lodge floatplane will take you to Iliamna in time for the return charter flight to Anchorage.

Spacious cabins with closet and bathroom. Thermostatically-controlled heat ensures your total comfort. Each xabin is equipped with a DVD player and 19” monitor to show the day's pictures or your video action shots from your day on the water.
Rainbow River Lodge has a most unique bar, created by a very talented artist. These are life-size fish replicas cast of aluminum then arranged and welded together to form the structure of the bar. It’s a conversation piece unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.
Dinners like one would find in finer restaurants are served in the main lodge. The bell for breakfast rings early for anglers anxious to get each day started. Dining or relaxing, the lodge is the setting for many pleasant moments of conversations and memories.
2013 Rates: 6 days of guided fly-out fishing and 6 nights lodging: $7,200.
Trips will start in Iliamna on Saturday and finish on Friday night.
