La Zona - Salto Grande is a fishery that provides the most unique and consistently productive fishing experience. Just an hour flight from Buenos Aires to the city of Concordia in the province of Entre Rios and you are at the Salto Grande dam over the Uruguay river, natural border with Uruguay.
No matter the size of the Dorado, you will have your hands full fighting this spectacular fish. The common and plentiful 10 to 20 pounders will give you a challenge. Imagine now a place where the conditions are unique and the favorite food source always available and you have the top at the food-chain fish growing to huge sizes. It is something from another time, almost prehistoric... several fish are fighting for the same fly or lure, trying to take it away from the one you just hooked! So, forget the rules and be ready to deal with 20 to 30 lb Dorado. And maybe, you'll have the opportunity to meet the record 50 lb-er!
Dorado will leap into the air to once hooked, run under your boat and make long runs trying to get away. Of course, with experienced guides and with only 2 boats allowed from Argentina and 2 from the Uruguay side, this fishery is guaranteed to be taken care off for future generations of fishermen. That is why you can expect realistically twelve to thirty Dorado a day.
