  2. Private Fly Casting Lessons

    We offer private casting instruction, arranged to meet your schedule. The casts covered would be according to your specific needs. This is the best way to build your casting confidence, or get yourself out of the beginner stage and move you to a more advanced level of casting. Also a great way to get you ready for an upcoming trip!

    Consider private casting instruction for: Basic Casting Fundamentals, Single and Double Haul Casting, Distance Casting, Casting for Accuracy and more.

    Cost: 2 Hours of instruction $100 for 1 student or $125.00 for 2 students (Group lessons of 3 or more are also available. Call 714-525-1827 to arrange)Equipment is provided however you are welcome to bring your own. An instructor will call you to arrange a meeting time once the order is placed

  3. High Sierra On The Water Fly Fishing Clinic with Pat Jaeger


    Join Pat on a 2-day educational experience to improve your success in nymph, dry fly, steamer and wet fly fishing. You will be introduced to entomology, reading the water, casting applications, short and long line dry fly presentation, indicator and indicator-less nymphing, fly selection, planning and basic knots.

    These classes will take place on various waters from Bishop to Bridgeport, depending on the time of year, weather and weather flows.

    Pat Jaeger, your instructor is a premier educator in this art, his goal is to teach the fundamentals which you will need to go out on your own. This two day crash course will set you on your way to enjoy the lifetime journey of tricking trout with chicken feathers tied to hooks.

    Pat is an Instructor and Guide, he also brings with him years of experience on his home waters. He has fished and explored the Eastern Sierras for over 30 years!

    Currently he is the owner / operator of the EASTERN SIERRA GUIDE SERVICE which located in the Mammoth Lakes area. He also spends up to six weeks in Oregon guiding for Steelhead on the Rogue River

    2-Day clinic is $325 per person (unless otherwise noted)

    • Class size is limited to 6 students, with a minimum of 4 to guarantee class.
    • Clinic includes an 8 hour class per day, lunch, and non-alcoholic beverages.
    • Clinic does not include lodging, tackle, other meals, license*, and transportation to and from fishing locations.

    *Fishing licenses can be purchased in advance here at the shop.

    In this class, we will be using bucktail to tie larger flies for big fish. Grab your tools and Join Al Q at Bob Marriott’s for this informative class for advanced tyers. Attendees will tie one each of several patterns. Materials for class and recipes will be provided.

    Our Introduction to Fly Fishing Class will thrust you into the world of fly fishing with a working knowledge of all of the key aspects of the sport! It is a comprehensive; eight-hour course that includes both classroom instruction and on-the-water casting lessons with one of our Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF) certified casting instructors.     Our beginning fly tying class teaches the skills necessary to immediately begin tying your own flies. With the knowledge of the basic techniques of fly tying learned in class, you will be able to tie a wide range of dry and wet flies on your own! You will also leave the class with a better understanding of insect entomology, which will result in a more effective use of all the various fly patterns.

    Classes are held at our store on Saturdays (as noted) from 4PM - 8PM

    All materials and tools are provided and you will tie a variety of flies which offer a range of varying techniques and applications
